MAKING ON A MONDAY

Casting on the second basic bootie for my brother's baby Beanie. I can't wait to meet the little soul.

'A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2014'

George: rolling around and giggling at the sight of your silly mama. You love to be outside, watching the birds and the trees and trying to get a good handful of grass in your mouth.

I'm not sure who started this project but I came across it and I love it. I hope it's ok that we join in. I might play catch up and post the past 12 weeks in the coming days, I have that many photos of this little man that it won't be hard to catch up - the tricky part will be selecting the photos - not to worry though, for I am at my happiest when scrolling through photos of the baby when the baby is sleeping.

SUNDAY SNOOZE

You my darling are perfection.
I can't resist letting you catch a few zzz's on your feeding pillow at these handful of times when you don't finish with a big burp and a squeal, ready to go play again. I freeze and try not to fidget and disturb you from your slumber. At 5 months I fear these moments are fleeting, as you become so big and boisterous that I wonder how much longer you will go on feeding this way. And so I cling to the chance to sit and stare at you sleeping on my lap, so peaceful and perfect.

SNAPSHOT

Coffee table collection.
We watched the Mandela movie this evening. What a man. What a story. What a country.
So much wisdom. So much to teach my son. So much more to be done in this world.
I love the variety in this photo. The stack of books that sit alongside this one feature the topics of our lives: parenting, travel, cooking, bedtime stories, ultra marathon running and knitting.
