'A portrait of my son once a week, for every week in 2015'

A boy with a sore thumb sort of sits on a car thing.

Soccer superstar sits on ball.
George you have learnt to say 'ballllll', throw the ball, kick the ball and now sit on the ball. You fill our hearts and make us smile. Such a funny little goose.

Making, meditating and mental health

Monday morning mandala on the (washing) machine.

2015 and time to make things happen. I've been thinking of personal and professional development, setting goals for where I want to be and what I want to do.
Motherhood is a full time occupation for me now, the best job in the world, but I am still enjoying working two days a week and having that time to reconnect with work, my career and my goals.

My Monday Making series has naturally come to an end. It was such a pleasure to hear and see more from some of the makers I know. When making things in a group setting 'what are you making?' is normally one of the first questions we ask each other. It's a question that can lead to so much more; the story behind that person, why they are making that thing, what they enjoy about making that thing and why they have put time aside from their normal life to make that thing.

That last point is where I'm at now. I've been wanting to learn more about the impact of art making and crafting on ones mental health. There is a definite connection - we feel happy after making something. A creative endeavour with the fruits of our labour in the form of a creative piece to be appreciated by all once compete.

So I'm going to make it happen. I'll share with you here some of my findings. Starting now with this awesome article:

Happy Monday and happy making my friends!

Morning snuggles with these two monkeys while daddy is off fishing catching us some big fish!
George's teethy grin and squinty little smiley eyes are the best.

1/52: Marshmallow water baby George.

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2015.

I was planning on sticking with a black and white theme this year, I'm not off to a good start! Maybe I'll make it as colourful as possible instead!

Anyone can join in and take part in Jodi's lovely project. It's such a great project to get involved in. I'm not sure if I'll continue to post the pics here on the blog and the pom pom facebook page or if I'll just put them on Instagram. If you join in on Instagram use the hashtag #the52project and tag Jodi @practisingsimplicity
