'A portrait of my son once a week, every week in 2015'

This has got to be one of my favourite photos of the boys. Best buds in the pool.

Soccer superstar sits on ball.
George you have learnt to say 'ballllll', throw the ball, kick the ball and now sit on the ball. You fill our hearts and make us smile. Such a funny little goose.

Morning snuggles with these two monkeys while daddy is off fishing catching us some big fish!
George's teethy grin and squinty little smiley eyes are the best.

1/52: Marshmallow water baby George.

A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2015.

I was planning on sticking with a black and white theme this year, I'm not off to a good start! Maybe I'll make it as colourful as possible instead!

Anyone can join in and take part in Jodi's lovely project. It's such a great project to get involved in. I'm not sure if I'll continue to post the pics here on the blog and the pom pom facebook page or if I'll just put them on Instagram. If you join in on Instagram use the hashtag #the52project and tag Jodi @practisingsimplicity

'A portrait of my son once a week, for every week in 2014.'

Wow, the last photo for the year. I can't believe how this year has flown. My little baby boy has grown into a trouble making explorer and he continues to amaze us.
Being the last portrait for the year I had some difficulty choosing which picture. I think this one is absolutely George - full of wonder.
There were the late night meant to be asleep but instead playing with the tv plug photos, being caught where he shouldn't be photos, absolutely passed out asleep on daddy's lap on the flight to Perth photos, nudie fun in the sun at the river and beach and countless others. But this photo is very much George at the moment, and I hope how he will be forever; always playing, always watching and always learning.

Thanks for sharing this lovely journey with me this past year dear friends. I hope some of you may join in in 2015. Wishing you all a very happy new year.
Lots of love x J

Oh what fun we have in the garden. The hose spray gun keeps you amused for hours Mr George, and we end up pretty soggy just in time for dinner. You are so full of joy. I love you my dear son.

'A portrait of my son once a week, every  week in 2014.'

All blurry but this is George all over. Cheeky twinkle in his eye as he tries to stand up in his trolley seat, seat belt on and everything. He clearly thinks this game is hilarious. I end up pulling his legs back down, tightening the strap AGAIN and bribing him with yoghurt fruit bars to sit down! Cheeky devil. A friend has been doing a black and white photo challenge this week, it made me think that I'd like to take more black and white pics.
Other potential pics this week were the little turtle waking up all better from his bug.

And getting dirty in the garden with dad.

George your new toy went up this week, in the form of a little green Christmas tree wih lots of shiny things on it. You also took a few steps this week. And you also got badly sick for the first time this week. We're pretty lucky to say that at 13 months. You poor dear, it's not very pleasant being sick and it's a bit scary for mum and dad. Anyway, fingers crossed you are on the mend and will be back to your toddling, Christmas tree harassing self in no time.

Baby panda snoozing on the swing.
Completely exhausted from all of your standing attempts and playing in the afternoon sun. A little siesta on the swing was in order. And then it was back to watching daddy's cricket and having a mix and match picnic dinner. Absolurely loving these Pilbara evenings.

My Mr George the silly little goose. Always exploring and playing, in and out, up and down, moving things here and there, always keeping us on our toes and making us smile.
Sore teeth are still troubling the little man but there are lots of smiles and messy meals in between the cuddles and tears. Poor little dear, I hope those teeth come through soon!

'A portrait of my son, once a week, for every week in 2014.'

George looking yonder at his crazy daddy running into the freezing water at Bunker Bay. Just up from a snooze and plopped straight onto the beautiful beach sand; one of his favourite things to eat, throw, feel between his toes and attempt his first ever stand up in. What a lovely time we had down south with family and friends.
I also had a lovely sleeping photo this week after complaining that I don't watch George sleep so much anymore I got the opportunity to breathe in his sleepy goodness right up close. He had had a terrible night on our first night in Perth, waking up crying and in pain with some top toothies we think. Half an hour and a good dose of Panadol later he was back to sleep until 5am when he woke up all groggy and tired and joined me in the big bed for another couple of hours sleep. I dozed on and off and stared at his beauty, soaking up his sleepy goodness.
Here was the pic

'A portrait of my son once a week, for every week in 2014.'

I rarely get to watch you sleeping these days little man. It's too riskier business sneaking into your room to breathe in your sleepy goodness and snap a few memories to keep safe in my memory bank. Nap time = baby free time so normally I take the opportunity to do something for myself, be it lying on the couch in the quiet, making something or doing something that I struggle to do when you're around - like hang out the washing (you are good at taking things off the indoor clothes rack thing but not so good at hanging things up).
On this occasion I was willing you to wake up. We had a first birthday party to get to and you and your dad were both having a jolly good afternoon snooze. Come on boys, mum wants to party!
And what a fun party it was for a gorgeous little girl.
Happy, peaceful snoozing my beautiful boy.
Love, mum

'A portrait of my son once a week, every week in 2014'

George, last night whilst trying to get to sleep I lay in bed smiling and thinking of you.
For some reason you had woken up completely distraught about 45 minutes after going to bed. We got you up to play with your toys while we watched a DVD. You were pretty content and must have just wanted some company.
After a bit of sorting through your toys you made your way to one of your favourite spots - pressing buttons on the dvd player and foxtel box (oooh the pretty blue light!)
After a couple of 'no!'s and 'George, away from there...' from me, you got the fright of your life when a booming 'George!!' came from Dad. You stopped dead in your tracks, looked back at us on the couch, put your hands in your lap, turned your bottom lip over and your head flopped down. 'Come here' said Dad, pointing infront of him on the blue rug. You sheepishly crawled over like a naughty little puppy. I had to bite my lip from laughing. We praised you and cuddled you and said what a good boy you were. Surprisingly there were no tears. Poor little sausage. Golly it was funny. This parenting thing is hard! Especially with a cheeky little monkey that likes to push the boundaries (not that pressing buttons is really that bigger deal, but I guess you start small).
Here you are inspecting the vegetable patch and looking back to check that I'm watching you. Don't worry you're not in trouble!

A portrait of my George, once a week, every week in 2014.

Well me thinks this will become a new favourite spot. Swinging in the afternoon sun.
I love how you look at the trees and the birds, and sing a little relaxed song as you swing (until the whining kicks in when you need another push). I also love how you do that thing with your big toe haha.

Look at you looking up at me. I look at you with so much love and you look at me just the same. I love when you're all soft and cuddly when you just wake up. It's a rare moment of stillness in the busy world of George.
I couldn't decide this week between this pic, the one of you falling asleep sitting up as we landed in Perth, the one of you just waking up and the one of you with icecream cake dripping down your chin.

Here's another in this series and those two other funny photos. This week we celebrated your dirt birthday. What a wonderful year it has been.
I love you always my darling boy.

The last week of those golden locks. Come Wednesday there will be a ceremonial snipping of this curly mullet. I've held your Dad back from the scissors for this long, but this week is the week, the week of your first birthday.
Where has that year gone!?
What a wonderful year it has been my love, and what a lot of hair you have grown!
All I can say is good luck to your Dad with those scissors and please sit still for him!
